Instructions for iPhone eAlarmApp version 3.x Store variant
This manual describes how to start and register eAlarmApp 3.x, which is valid for the current iOS version, and informs about the possible settings and their effects.
Initial situation: The eAlarmApp version has been successfully installed on the iPhone and is running for the first time.
General messages
The first time you start the application, the message that the application wants to send messages is displayed.
Select „Allow„.
Critical notifications (critical alert)
When the app is launched for the first time, the message is displayed that the app wants to send notifications.
Select „Allow„.
This setting allows the app to notify messages out loud, even when the iPhone is set to silent.
You can find out more about this directly at Apple:
Note: „Data Roaming“ & Registration
note and select „OK„.
The traffic light of the app is still red. This is because the app is not yet registered with eAlarm and therefore the app mode is still set to „Inactive“.
The red light is displayed when
The first thing you need to do is enter your mobile number, if you have not already done so.
Tap on „My Number“ to open the input field.
Now enter your mobile number in international format (+41….) and complete the entry with „Done„.
Now you can register the eAlarmApp with eAlarm.
To do this, select „Request for registration code„…
… and confirm the pop-up that appears with „Send request„.
If your mobile number is stored in an authorized eAlarm emergency account, you will shortly receive an SMS from the sender eAlarmApp with your registration code.
Now select „Insert Registration code“ …
… and enter the 6-digit registration code.
A confirmation will appear.
The eAlarmApp is now successfully registered with eAlarm emergency, visible by the disappeared notice „Not registered“ in the upper right corner.
Also the red traffic light is no longer displayed.
This means: The app is registered, active and ready to receive messages.
Important message settings
The bell icon indicates the current setting of whether and which messages can be reported to the app.
Selecting the bell takes you directly to the OS settings, where notifications can be enabled or disabled.
A registered app can also be deregistered again. To do this, select „Delete registration“ and then confirm with „Send request„.
IMPORTANT!
Make sure that the app is „Not registered“ before you:
If you do not do this, eAlarm emergency for your target number will continue from the last set mode and you will either receive all messages 30 seconds delayed (fallback SMS in Active mode) or not at all (Inactive mode).
The app mode change and the registration deletion request are protected by an app-specific pin.
Select „Pin“ from the „Settings“ menu.
Enter your current pin.
The initial pin is „0000„.
You will now be prompted to enter your new pin. Do this now for the first time.
You will then be asked to confirm your pin.
You have now successfully changed your pin.
The eAlarmApp distinguishes two app modes:
Active – Push Notification
The eAlarmApp connects to the eAlarm emergency service. Alarm and info messages are primarily sent to the app via an active data connection (mobile or WLAN). If there is a data connection to the server at the time of alarm and info messages, the app will be notified with Notification Push. The app must be opened manually, the app connects to the server, and alarm and info messages can be sent.
If there is no data connection to the server at the time of the alarm messages, there is a secondary fallback to SMS after 30 seconds, depending on the selected settings in the eAlarm emergency account.
Inactive
The eAlarmApp logs out from the eAlarm emergency and the subscriber is set to „Absent“, i.e. the subscriber can NOT be alerted in the eAlarm emergency (Out of Service).
IMPORTANT:
If the eAlarmApp is closed in „Active“ state via task management, alarm and info messages will still be delivered to the app, because the eAlarmApp is activated via notification push.
If you do not want alarm and info messages to be delivered to the eAlarmApp, you have to set the app to „Inactive“ mode. How to set the app to inactive mode is described later in this document.
Set Inactive to Active…
Select „App Mode“ in the „Settings“ menu.
To change the app mode, you must enter your pin.
The default pin is: 0000
If you have entered your pin recently, this prompt will not appear.
Select the mode:
Active
The successful transfer to eAlarm emergency will be confirmed.
A log file is available in the participant area.
The following statuses are part of the logfile:
Select the mode:
Inactive
The deactivation MUST be scheduled for reactivation.
Select the reactivation time and confirm with „Done„.
The duration – how long the app can be set to inactive – is max. 30 days.
The successful transfer to eAlarm emergency will be confirmed…
… and the traffic light turns red.
You will NOT receive any messages, you are considered OUT OF SERVICE in eAlarm!
The reactivation time is displayed in the top right corner.
The eAlarmApp distinguishes – besides the menu item Settings via 3 menu items for the messages – three tabs each „All“, „Alarms“, „Info“.
Unread | New messages, alarms or information are stored under this menu item. The Alarms and Infos tabs can be used to display messages of the appropriate type. |
History | If the alarm or info message is processed (accepted or rejected), the message is stored in the corresponding register under History. There is space for max. 50 messages (queue). |
Saved | Messages can be saved to the Saved folder using the Save function. Messages that are no longer needed can also be deleted from this folder. |
IMPORTANT: If eAlarmApp is deleted, all messages are deleted and cannot be recovered.
Critical Alert
Alarms are reported as critical alarms (critical alarms must be enabled in the operating system).
When Critical Alert is enabled, the volume key is bypassed and a tone is played.
Info messages are delivered without sound.

The new alarm message is displayed directly when you access the program and can be processed.

You can choose between Apple Maps (default) or Google Maps. The selected setting can be changed at any time.
In addition, you can select in the app whether the coordinates are displayed on the map as a point or whether the car route or the walking route to the coordinate destination should be displayed.
Display example after selecting „Plan car route“.
Push Token no longer up to date
If the Apple Push Token Id in the eAlarmApp is no longer up to date, the eAlarmApp notices this and informs the subscriber with a message.
If the option „Register new now“ is selected, the registration process is triggered and the participant receives a registration code from eAlarm.
The participant can register as usual.
If the „Cancel“ option is selected, the eAlarmApp can be used normally, but without the push function.
If the task of the app is terminated (manually or by the iOS system), the next time the eAlarmApp is started, the message “ You must re-register now to receive alarms“ will be displayed again.
The message will be displayed until a new registration has taken place.
When an alarm is closed, the status page remains available to the subscriber for another 30 minutes. At the end of the 30 minutes, the user will see the following message:
„No information found for the alarm.“
Note:
The status page feature can be enabled by contacting the sales department.
The processing of Info-SMS messages is identical to the handling of alarm messages.
Analogous to the alarm, attachments (e.g. mug shots) can also be sent with the info dispatch (= info SMS) via eAlarmApp. The same formats can be uploaded which are also allowed for the app alert:
– DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX
– JPG, GIF, PNG
Analog alarm, the attachment is also displayed by means of paper clip icon:
Unlike the alert message, the information message does not support the delivery of a coordinate attachment.
General notes
For communication between Apple & App (Push) and also communication between the App & eAlarm to take place, the following ports must be open for connectivity:
